Sharon is our newly elected President. She is an IABC member because she believes the organization to be a worthwhile group for communication professionals. She received the 2006 IABC Nashville member Fellow Award for her service to our organization.

Sharon returned to Nashville after three years as a volunteer for a global group in Budapest, Hungary, and is now employed as a the Senior Communications Specialist for Caterpillar Financial in Nashville. Her active involvement in IABC Nashville occurs despite her global travels each month for Caterpillar Financial.
 
Her communication experience includes work as a reporter, copy editor, graphic designer, freelance writer and corporate communications coordinator. She previously worked at the Nashville Banner, BookPage and LifeWay Christian Resources. Sharon is the 2007 winner of three Gold Pen Awards.
 
In her spare time, Sharon enjoys traveling, hiking, reading, listening to live music and strong coffee.

BIO

Frank taught at Eastern Illinois University for 20 years before taking early retirement and joining the faculty at Austin Peay State University in 2001, where he started the University's student IABC Chapter. His interests include advertising, Internet and network technology, marketing communications, media management and economics, public relations, and Web design. He is the graduate coordinator of the online corporate communication Master's degree program at Austin Peay. Parcells has a Ph. D. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and is a lifetime member of Phi Kappa Phi, the National Honor Society.

Dr. Parcells worked for 15 years in commercial broadcasting in markets including Madison, Rockford, Denver, and Portland. He has also owned and operated an Internet service provider business; and, currently operates a marketing communication agency, AdMark Communications, and a Web hosting company, Mid Tennessee Network, in addition to his professorship at APSU.

He is the author of a soon-to-be published book, Using the Internet, from Mayhaven Publishing Company, has authored many articles in state, regional, and national journals, and made presentations at professional meetings since 1978. Most recently, Dr. Parcells, along with Mike Cutler of News Channel 5, was part of a panel at the 2007 Broadcast Education Association Convention discussing the supportive role of broadcast station Web sites in promotion, news, information, and advertising.

Glenda is marketing communications manager in the economic development department of the Tennessee Valley Authority, the nation's largest public power provider. Her responsibilities involve working in partnership with power companies, regional, state and community leaders to promote jobs and investments growth in the seven-state TVA region.
 
Before joining TVA, Glenda was division vice president of sales and marketing for a southeastern regional utility headquartered in middle Tennessee.
 
Glenda devotes time to several professional organizations which achieve their goals through mentoring, networking, and communication. "I'm excited about my membership recruitment role with IABC. IABC is an association that gives you the opportunity to share best business practices and access a multitude of networking and training resources."

Dee Ann Adams is corporate communications manager at Dollar General Corporation, where she oversees internal communication for more than 70,000 employees spanning 35 states. She enjoys serving on the Community Initiatives Committee, which plans and implements various charitable efforts.
 
As a freelance writer and graphic designer, she has worked for government, for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. Dee Ann also possesses communication experience in higher education and health care.
 
Dee Ann earned a degree in journalism from Indiana State University, with a minor in dance. She has been teaching dance teams and color guard groups for 17 years.

As Corporate Communications Director for CBRL Group, Inc./Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Julie provides strategic counsel to the company's top executives. She serves as the national spokesperson for this Fortune 1000 company, and focuses on the alignment of internal and external messages for varying constituencies. Julie has led Cracker Barrel's communications effort through a number of high profile national crises.

Her background includes employment as a broadcast journalist, multimedia developer and instructor. She is Accredited in Public Relations (APR) through the Public Relations Society of America and certified in crisis communications through the Institute for Crisis Management. She holds an MS in Corporate Communications from Ithaca College in New York where she graduated Phi Kappa Phi, an MA in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University, and a BA in English from Binghamton University.

This Memphis, Tennessee native spent most of her professional career working with nonprofit organizations, such as Americorps, Up With People and Job Corps. Not long after graduation from APSU with an M. A. degree, where Debra became active as a member of the student chapter of the IABC.

Debra says she was able to hone her communication talents through her campus involvement in the IABC, and has greatly enjoyed interacting with her fellow peers. After completing her summer internship in London, England, she returned to Clarksville where she now works as a Career Transition Services Specialists at the Clarksville/Montgomery County Career Center.

Today, Debra is a dedicated communications professional.

Since December 2001, Paul has served as director of public relations for Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, nationally known as one of the top five cardiac hospitals in the country. More recently, Paul was promoted to director of communications at St. Thomas Hospital. Prior to that, he was senior manager of communications for the Opryland Hospitality Group, which included, Opryland Hotels in Nashville, Florida and Texas.
 
Lindsley began his career in television news at the ABC affiliate in Huntsville, Alabama. There, he worked as a photojournalist, reporter, producer and assignment manager for seven years. Next, he moved on to the Fox News Network's station in Memphis as assignment manager.
 
During his nine years in television news, Lindsley served on the board of directors of the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association. Lindsley currently serves as the state representative for the Caregiving Community Action Network, an advocate program of the National Family Caregivers Association. Paul also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Mid-South Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Jay is a communications specialist in the internal communications department at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store. He is responsible for the content and delivery of the company's various internal communications vehicles. This includes serving as editor of the company magazine, Old Country Stories, and coordinating several employee "town hall" type meetings each year.
 
Before joining Cracker Barrel, Jay worked for the Tennessee Society of CPAs, where he was responsible for all of the organization's media and community relations initiatives and business development programs.
 
Jay holds a Bachelor's degree in public relations from Lipscomb University, a master's degree in mass communication from Middle Tennessee State University, and an MBA from Cumberland University.

Paul is excited and proud to continue his service with our Chapter as the Past President beginning in July 2007. He has found board service to be a great way to network with his fellow peers and he rarely misses an IABC event or conference. Paul Ladd now serves as the IABC Nashville Senior Delegate to IABC regional and national conferences and conventions.
 
In addition to his extensive experience as a newspaper and magazine writer and news broadcaster, Paul has served as the Director of Communication for the Tennessee Department of Human Services. He is a former TV news anchor and talk show host, and has won several awards for his work, such as the Achievement in Radio (AIR) Award for Best News Interview, and a Gold Pen Award for News Writing.
